! Thoro were twonty-two exhibits m all m: the dairy produeo division, tho show of buttor! being exceptionally good. For tlio prizos for; the best 31bs of fresh butter, thoro woro noless than fifteen entries, mo<t of tho samples being of hiph quality; Mrs Dawo carried off: the palm with two nico fresh and tasty lots,; while Mrs J. Eelland and Mrs Hampton's ox- j hibits were also delicious, both .being lik-hly commended. Mra Kolland obtained tho first : prize for the beet jar of potted- butter, nnd' Mrs R. Dawo the second, there boing yery littlo to .chooso between the two. Mr T. H. Green tobk first priz-Vs' for tho best sjdo of Now Zealand cured bacon, and tho beßt two hams, Mr Luxmore's exhibits m tho; eamo classes being highly commended. -All four exhibits were worthy of special notice, Iho curing. |bo-. : lDg firat-class. Whilo on this division of. the exhibits, we will tako tho opportunity of protesting against tho way m which the butter and bread, &c, is allowed to bo handled and; hacked: about and ■ spoilt by. ; any ;T(?ip, Dick,' or Harry, who - ■ffants a cheap; .meal.. . Yesterday ■ tho' butter • , csnociallly was ,mpst ; disgracofa.lly cut up.. and soilod, : and- ( prcßcntod anything .but a tempting ap-. pearance -as the, aftornoon . wore on. -Tho! bacon, was rlso meddled with, whila tho bread eecmed to bo considered fair gatno for all the' dirl-y cbawbacons and larrikins on tho ground. Such oxhibits as these ought to bo properly, protected and guarded. ,
