Timaru Herald", O face, Saturday Evening. STOCK REPORTS. Messrs Maclean and Stewart report for the past fortnight . — Horses are still difficult to dispose of,' and very unsatisfactory prices to tho sellers require to bo taken when 6ales have been effected. At their usual Saturday's sale large numbers have been entered, and a good many changed hands. They quote good heavy young draughts as being worth £50 to £60 ; medium, £35 to £-10 ; light harness and hackneys, £15 to £25. Cattle. — There is little demand for store cattle at present, unless for dairy cows, or well-grown steers for feeding on turnips. They could place a mob of this description. A number of milk cows have changed hands at from £5 10s to £13 10s j heifers, from £3 to £10 ; calves, 26s to 30s. Fat Beef. — For the best quality is worth 25s per lOOlbs. Sheep. — There has been considerable enquiry for good cross-bred wethers suitable for putting on turnips, and they have disposed of 1200 ewes and wethers for this purpose at from 6s 6d to 8s 3d. There is little demand for other kinds of sheep at present, with the exception of young merino ewes or wethers. They could place about 3000 of this class, but thero is none offering m the meantime. A small lot of full-mouthed merino ewes, numbering 400, changed hands at 2s 9d. Fat Sheep. — A considerable rise m value of mutton has taken place m the North during tho week, and they have heard of sales having been effected for forward delivery as liigh as 3d per lb, though at ; resent not more than from ljd to 2d can be quoted. Property. — They have sold several sections m Arowhenua and "Wallingford, but prices were low. Interest m leasehold properties have also been sold, also at cheap rates. They offered a nice town property, consisting of quarter-acre with large concrete house to day, but not fetching the reserve price, it was bought m. Messrs Palmer and Collins report holding their usual Saturday's market and sale by auction of farm produce and general merchandise. The attendance was good and money abundant, as every item submitted to the hammer found a buyer at the following rates : — Potatoes, £5 per ton, supply not equil to demand ; onions, 2d per lb for small quantities; lard, 4d per lb; cheese, 6Jd to 7Jd; fowls, 2s 6d to 4s per pair ; turkeys, 3s 6d to 6s each j geese, 4s each ; ducks, none offering ; American salmon, 7s per doz. ; American cod fish, 20s per case ;. apples, 8s to 8s 6d per case ; pears, 10s 6d per case ; oranges, 14s per case. Furniture and a quantity of sundries were quitted at satisfactory rates. They wish to draw attention to their tree sale for Monday, 16th inst., for particulars sco advertisement.
