1 [Reuter's Agency.] Sydney, Jan. 8. The action of the Bulli Coal Company m locking out their men was followed by the Mount Reira and Mount Pleasant Companies ; nearly 1000 men being thus affected. It is proposed to form a society for the introduction of English song birds. Four seamen of the Minnie Lorn, convicted of assaulting and binding the captain m New Guinea, were released on the Court rising, it appearing that the captain had been guilty of brutal conduct, drunkenness, and of nearly setting the ship on tire. Nearly £4000 was subscribed to the recent Seamen's Fund. (special to "timaru herald.") Sydney, Jan. 8. The Government have approved of a magnificent design for the Exhibition building, covering several acres. It is stated that Prince Heinrich, son of the Princess Royal, is m the German frigate bound for Australia.
