Wellington, Sept. 3. BEGISTBABS AND SHEBIPFS. In the Council to-day, the hon. the Colonial Secretary stated, m reply to the hon. Mr Hart, that the amalgamation of the offices of Registrar apd Sheeiff, had been done on the advice of the Law Officers of the Crown. THIBD BEADING. The Library Institutions Bill wa3 read a thiid time and passed. OAiIAKTT WATBBWOBKS BILL. On the question to go into committee on thp Oamaru Waterworks Bill, a long debate ensued. A motion was made by the hon. Mr Waterhouse, to commit the Bill that day six months and ultimately the debate was adjourned for a fortnight. SECOND READING. The Catlins Kivcr Cemetry Bill was read a second time on the motion of the hon. Mr Reynolds. ♦
