It is probable a compromise will be effected re the cession of Batoum, by the people paying tribute to Russia, and being allowed te maintain their present institutions and officials. The Australians played against eighteen of Hastings, and m their first inninga the latter have ten men out for 104. They are a strong team. London, Aug. 27. The Government have accepted the tender of the P. and 0. Coy. for the conveyance of the Indian and China mails for eight years, from February 1880. In the cricket match, Hastings' first innings closed for 131. The Australians have three men out for 190. Bailey is not out for 100. QMurdoch is not out for one. «
