The ordinary monthly meeting of the above Board waß held m tho Road Board oflice, Peel Forest, on Friday, 21st iustant. Present — Messrs C. G. Tripp. (chairman), J. Heney, R. Mackay, and E. Hooper. Cutting to Peel Forest Road — Joseph Wharton, £290'; John Sugrue, £145 lObj Michael Tangeney, £140 ; James Riorden, £121 5s (accepted). * No. 6 Contract : Shingling from Ransitata Bridge to Boyd's Cutting — Tames Currnn, £268 10s ; Joseph Wharton, £252 j Timothy Herlihy, £198 f John Sugrue, £198 ; James Riorden, £180 (accepted). No. 7 Contract v Shingling from Pithies to the Rangitata Terrace — Dennis Connolly, £156 ; Joseph Warton„£l42 ; John Sugrue, £133; James Riorden, £131 16s; Richard O'Jffeil, £127 (accepted), No. 8 Contract: Shingling near the boundary road — John Casey, £72; John Sugrue, £65 12s 6d ; Joseph Wharton, £64 10s (accepted). From the Hon. the Colonial Secretary, dated 31st May, forwarding a description of the boundaries of the Mount Peel and Geraldine Road Districts as proposed, to inaert tliem m tho proclamation altering the boundaries of the districts. From the Secretary to the Treasurer, dated 29th May, informing the Board that the sum of £780 19s 8d has been placed to the Board's credit, being its share of 20 per cent, of the Land Revenue for the quarter ending 31st March, 1878. The Clerk was directed to acknowledge the receipt of the same. From the Chief Surveyor, dated Bth June, m reference to plotting up roads on Raincliff run. * Frbm Messrs Thornton and Bull, surveyors and engineers, business circular. From the Secretary for Public Wprks, dated 16th May, re repairs to Rangitata bridge. - * From Mr J. Thompson, surveyor, Timaru, dated 4th June, informing the Boflfrd that the plan of the deviation of* road- through the'Allandale property was now completed, it having been examined and» checked* by tbe officer m charge of the Survey Office m Timarii; and is now deposited with Mr White. From Mr Dennis, Hoare, dated 4th May, representing the necessity of having the road formed leading up tb his house on- the Raiucliff run. The Overseer informed the Board that the section referred to by Mr Hoare has not yet been surveyed, nor a road laid off to it, and that he had written acquainting him of the aame: JFrom the Ashburton County Council, dated 10th June, re protectivo works at the Rangitata bridge, and returning Watkins' plans. JFrom Mr W. Hislop, dated Ist June, with reference to trees for planting. From Mr J. Talbot, dated 4th June, infonring the Board that a road has been laid off through sections 27832 and 27833, and requesting the Board td tako the necessary steps for having a road taken-through section 19994, to be connected with the road leading acrosß the downs to Fairlie Creek. The Clerk was instructed to inform Mr Talbot that when the road is marked on the map and a plan of the same csn be obtained, the Board will take the necessary Bteps for furthering his views. JFrom the Geraldine Road Board, dated 18th June, containing a claim for gravel used on tbe Rangitata river bed road. Tho Clerk was instructed to acknowledge the receipt of the same, and inform the Geraldine Road Board that the Mount Peel Road Board was under the impression when the contract was let that the contractor was to find the gravel where ' he couid.vhence how does this olaim arise. ' ' ■ From Mr James Watkins, requesting that the plans for protective works at the Rangitata bridge be returned as soon as possible ; also, complaining of the state of the road between the Rangitata bridge and the railway Btation. . The Olerk was instructed to return the plans as requested, and with respect to the road to the railway station to inform him that any applications for improvements to the road referred to by him must be made to the Geraldine JRoad Board, as that part' of the eonnty is m the Geraldine Road Board District. BBSOLTJTIONS PASSED. "That the Olerk write to the Public Works office, to know if Mr Blair, the Engineer-in-Chief, has thought it desirable to remove the two small islands immediately above the Rangitata bridge ; also whether he has taken into consideration the necessity of pro-:, tecting the south bank of the river."

"That the Overseer measure the diversion of road at Boyd's Cutting, and report upon tho same at next meeting. OVEHSEKE'S BEPOBT. Tho Overseer's report was read and considered, and tho following resolutions bearing on it passed : "That Iho work of formin<» the road near the Opuha river, be deferred till spring." " That tender? bo invited for cross plough- ' ing thc reserve, at tho office, and for building a Bhed near Bainc'itF, for holding cement ; also, tenders for horse teams. application. Application was made by Mr Button for permission to fence m part of tho gravel reserve near Peel Forest. " That tbe request be granted." PBIVATE MAIL BAG. . " That the Clerk write to the Postmaster, Christchuroh, to have a privato mail bag for . the Board, and that the overseer write to Mr Wood, of Christchurch, for a bag." BOAD BOABD MAP. "That tho map be sent to the Survey Office to be marked up, and to request that particular attention be paid to plotting up all sections and roads on tho boundary of the district near the Opuha River. PLANTING- TEEES. " That the Clerk write to tho Chairman . of the Domain Board, Christchurch, requesting a reply tq the Board's letter cf the 30th April, with reference to treeß fur planting." S*rONE CRUSHING MACHINE. " That tho Clerk writo to the Chairman of tho Levels Read Board, requesting informamation with respect to stono crushing machine, and cost of breaking metal. OVEBDUE LAND EEVENUB. " That the Clerk write to tho Colonial Secretary requesting to know when the Board is to receive their share ofthe surplus land revenue, due ou the 3 lsfc December last. ACCOUNTS. - Accounts to the amount of £216 19s lOd were passed for payment, und the meeting then adjourned till tho third Friday m July.
