The grain market generally shows a weaker tendency. §§As instancing the value of hotel property m Timaru, we uuderstand that Messrs F. A. Sims and Co. have sold Mr C. W. Wood's Old Bank Hotel for £6650, and the stock and furniture extra at valuation, to Mr J. E. Beckingham, Cabinetmaker, of this town. Messrs Sims and Co. also recently effected the sale of Mr Stansell'a Criterion Hotel for £4000, and stock and furniture extra at valuation, the purchaser being Mr Josephus Murphy, late of the Point Hotel. The graiu market ia very inactive, buyers showing no disposition |to meet farmers' demands Wheat, 4s 3d ; oat?, 3s 3d to 3s 6d ; barley, 4s to 4s 6d ; flour, £12 ; bran, £4 10s ; sharps, £5 10s. The statistics show a large acreage under potatoes, and low rates are expected to rule. The amount of tonnage on the berths for London is large. OAATARU, Friday Evening. Grain is now coming m m large quantities, but farmers ask more than buyers are willing to give, owing to the crops turning out better than was expected. Wheat shows a downward tendency, and has receded to 4s ; beat Bamples of oats are m good demand at 3s to 4s ; breadstuffs are quoted f.o.b. :— Flour, £11 10a to £12 ; oatmeal, £18 ; pearl barley, £20 ; pollard, £5 10a ; bran, £3 ss ; potatoes. 45s to 50s.
