[Piiess Agency.] Auckland, Nov. 30. The Australia arrived at C.30 p.m. The Wanaka leaves with the Southern portion j of the mails at 3 p.m. The Australia left Auckland on the 2Gth September, and arrived at Honololu on October Bth.; left Honolulu on the 9th, and arrived at San Francisco early on October 17th, 21 da3 T s 11 hours from Auckland. Her mails were transhipped to the Company's lug steamer, taken to Oaklands, and transferred to the special train which left Oaklands at 11 a.m., and caught the overland mail train at Sacramento at 3 p.m., the mails arriving at New York in time for the steamer thereon October 24 for Liverpool, and giving a passage of nine days, the mails should have arrived in London on 2nd November, six days before the due date from Sydney, and nine from Auckland. The mails were delivered in London 37 days from Auckland. The Australia sailed from San Francisco on November 7th, arrived at Honolulu on the 17th, left on the 18th,. and arrived at Auckland as above, 20 days 20 hours from San Francisco. The installation of Mr F. "Wiiitaker as P.G.M. of the Scotch Constitution, and of Mr G. F. Graham as P.G. of the English Constitution, took place at tha Choral Hall in the presence of a splendid assembly of Masons. The day was observed as a holiday by the banks and public offices, and most of the private business places ivere closed. Wellington, Not. 30. It is currently reported that Henry Bunny, M.H.R., is to be appointed Commissioner of Railways. Mr Anderson, late mate of the steamer Taranaki, has been appointed to the command of the screw steamer Grafton, now on her way from Sydney to Wellington. A report drawnup by the Reorganisation Committee of the City Council recommendts the dismissal of all the Corporation servants but two, and shows how £3000 per annum can be saved. The report has been adopted. There were registered during the month in Wellington 80 births, 24 marriage certificates issued, and 30 deaths. The subscriptions towards the Indian Famine Fund are still coming in, and probably over £2000 will be collected here. Balclutha, Nov. 30. A four-roomed dwelling-house belonging to Mr H. Clark, gardener, Balclutha, with the whole of the furniture, was burned early this morning. Mr Clark was from home, and Mrs Clark is severely cut by an explosion of a flask of gunpowder in the house. The origin of the tire is unknown, but to all appearance it was accidental. The building was insured for £245 in the Victoria Insurance office.
