Timaru Kerald Office, Saturday evening. STOCK REPORTS. Messrs D. and L. Maclean report for the wsek as follows : — Draught horses. — Very few have come forward for sale. Last week's quotations hold good. Hackneys. — Several have been sold. Superior, £25 to £35 ; ordinnry,£lß to £23 ; inferior, £10 to £15. Store Cattle. — 45 head huve been quitted at £6 2s 6d each, and to-day at the yards 20 head m good condition, were disposed of at £7 per hsad. Dairy cows and springing heifcr3, £9 10s to £12. Fat cattle. — No transaction to record. Store sheep. — Very little business has been effected, although sheep of all descriptions are offering for eale. Country Sales. — At Marchwiel, on Friday 23rd instant, the sale was well attended by buyers from all parts of the country. Competition was keen, and the whole stock may be considered to have been moßt satisfactorily quitted at the following prices : — Nine pens, containing 44 Leicester ewes with lambs, from 27s 6d to fiss each ; dry Leicester ewes, 22s 6d j 142 cross-bred ewes and lambs were knocked down for 21s each ; merino ewes with lambs, 7s ; Leicester ewe hoggette, 37s 6d ; half-bred hoggetts, 13s ; f -bred do., 16s 3d ; 21 ram hoggets (Leicestcrs) were disposed of at from 15s to 77s 6d each ; Leiceiter rams (4-tooth), £3, and 6 to Btooth do., from £2 to £6 ss. All of the sheep were m first-rate condition, and were sold m their wool. Draught Horses.— Mares, with foals, £36 to £39 ; one- heavy draught gelding, £58 j light draughts, £12 to £28; colts and fillies. £19 to £2010s. Cattle.— Dairy cows, £12 to £13 10s ; fafc heifers, £11 ; store heifers and steers, £4 15a to £6 ; calves, £2 15s to £3. Implements, &c, were all sold at very fair prices. Attention is directed to a sale of store cattle at Temuka on Monday, as per advertisement m another colnmu. Skin and hide sales. — On Thursday 22nd iust., at their usual fortnightly sale, a very large number of sheep skins of every description were entered for sale, finding a ready market, bidding and attendance being good, 1700 merinos realising 4a 2d to 5s for £to
$ ; woolled skins, inferior to medium, la 3d ] to 2s 9J. Ci-oss-bred, 455 at from 3j 4d ] to 58 6d according to quality ; hides, 17s 6d each, and tallow, 2id per lb. Messrs Jonas nnd Hart report for week ending to-day us follows : — Fat Cattle. — The market is well supplied ■with good demand. From their transitions m this line, cannot quote any alteration m | rates. ' Storo Cuttle. — A few small lots have pas=cd | through their hnnris at fair rates, but tho scarcity of fed through Ml 9 dry weather has operated matcriully against tho Bale of this class of stock. Milch cows continue to find buyers at fair rates. Their transactions show £9 10s to £11 15s for cows m full profit and springing. Sheep. — Tuny have no transaclions to report. Sheep skins. — At thoir usual forljlifjhtly Bale of skins, &c, held on Thursdny, 22nd inst., a large number of Bkins were catalogued, and found a ready sale at the following rates : Merino, 3s to sts Cd ; cross-breds, 4s 6d to fis 6cl ; lambs, Is 4<l to 13 5d ; hides' (light), 15s. Tho attendance represented tho usual trade buyers. Country Snlcs. — They would draw the attention of farmers nnd dealers to tho clearing snle of Mr Spei-chly's live and dead farm i>tock to bo held on his farm, near Geraldino, on Tuesday next, tho 27th inst. Horses. — A good number were entered and changed hands nt their yards to-day, but they cannot report the demand as beim; enoourag • ing to vendors. Tho protracted dry weather has put a Btop to breaking up, consequently draught stock arc not so easily placed They do not anticipate much alteration m this class until harvest time. They quoto heavy draught from £56 to £60 ; heavy plough and farm -worker*, £39 to £4,7 ; hacks and light harness horses from £11 to £27 103. Farm Produce. — A largo quantity of all kinds changed hands at their ealo to-day at prices fully equal to late quotations.
