the eastern headland of; Preservation Inlet. The sjte of the proposed- tower has an eleva,tion of 140 ft. above the Bra level. The foundation ia to be of totara piles, driven into the bed-rock, and, of- course, th,ere will be ground plates. The tower, which will be 40ft. 6in. m; height, will ' be composed of,. eight, trussed frames. In addition, three ho.uses for . the lighthouse keepers, and two stores are to be 'erected. A lighthouse is also to be erectedoh Centre Island, in.Fpveaux Strait. It will be 20ff. m height, and its site is. 240 ft. above the level of the sea. Ifc is expected that ' it will be completed m about ten months' from th!e time of signing the contraot, and that at Preservation Inlet m about 12 months from the; same period.
