Accident to Dit Mclntybe.-— The truth of the udnge that misfortunes nnver come singly has been strikingly exemplified within the past few days. On Tuesday last Dr Mclntyre attendeJ two persons with fractured lt-^3, und on the following d.iy unfortu-. nately met with an accident himself. It appeal's that he was riding along Church -street, and when near Mr Cliff's atore the horse came down, causing the Doctor to fall heavily and break his collnr-bone. Dr Mclntyre proceeded at once to Mr Wntkin's chemist shop, where he was attended to and the bone set. Wedding. — Yesterday forenoon the neighbourhood of St. Mary's Church was fairly thronged with people, tho occasion .of the assemblage being the marriage of Mr IT. J. Scaly and Miss Askin. The marriage party was expected at the Church at half-past eleven o'clock, and at that hour tho Church wns 111 led -with the friends of the two principals, and those drawn by curiosity, the bridegroom bring . a gectleinuii long resident and much respected m the district. 'At the above hour, instead however of Mr Scaly and his intended bride occupying (ho altai^dais, their places wero taken by another couple who that morning had come from Teinuka to be united m the holy bonds at St. Mary's. The appearance of tins unexpected couple, 'and the feeling perhaps of being a trifle " sold," caused irreverent- sounds to issue from t lie congregation. However the delay of waiting only entailed the length of the marriage service, and that over Mr Sealy's party made its appearance. This wns somewhat large, comprising of course the - principals, four bridesmaids, and a similar number of groomsmen, the former being Miss Flora Maefarlanc, Miss Charlotte, A^ki^, Miss Kate McLean, and Miss Perry; tho latter Mr Cunningham Smith (best man), Mr Robert Rutherford, Mr W. Newton, and MrD. Maefarlanc. Besides these, six little children also " assisted." Of the' dresses we will not venture to describe ; enough to say that both bride arid the assistant young ladies were dressed becomingly, and looked, the bride especially, uncommonly well. Assembled m front of the altar 'the party quieidy took the appointed places : and at the correct period m the ceremony the bride was given away " for better or for worse," by her 'stepfather, Mr Tatc. ■ The Incumbent, the Rev. G-eo. Foster, performed the service, at the conclusion of which Mr Dugdale, the choir muster, played ' Mendellsohu's Weddin" March." . . °' Literacy Piracy.— With the utmost delicacy we would draw the attention of our contemporary the Mount Ida Chronicle to- the fact that m its issue of the 4th inst., it took without the slightest acknowledgment two "notes" from the Herald, treating them as if they were the Glironiclis own. The paragraphs iv question related the one to the death of Dr Brydou, of Khyber Pass fame, and the other to the capture and trial of Niaz Mahomet Khau, a rebel of some note m the Indian mutiny.
