Have been instructed by Mr John Turnbull to sell by Puhlic Auction, at the Timaru Agiicultural and Pastoral Show Yards, on the above date — Tlie Celebrated Pure Clydesdale Stallion, MARQUIS OF LORNE. The Marquis of Lome, bred by Mr John Turnbull, is a rich dapple bay, rising four years, and stands IGJ- hands. For symmetry, strength of bone, and girth, he stands unrivalled m the colony. He has a good constitution, a fine temper, and m fact thoroughly free of vice. As a yearling, he took the first prize at thc Oamaru Show ; first prize as a two-year-old ; and second prize as a three-year-old, against all comers ; and was only beaten by the Jlukc (his half brother) — perhaps the best horse South of the Line. It was only nfter a very close and careful examination that the judges decided iv favour of the Duke ; and after the horses left the ring the judges expressed their approval of tho "young horse" m tho most unqualified manner. 'J'he Marquis is by the renowned imported horse Lofty, who has never been beaten m the colonies. His dam is the prize mare Diamond, imported from Tasmania.
