VTOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that L\ Government Insurance and Annuities Dffices, under "The Government Annuities Act, 1569," and " The New Zealand Government Insurance and Annuities Act, 1870," liave been opened at TIMARU, CHRISTCHURCH, KAIAPOI, LYTTELTON, and all the principal Money Order Offices m the Colony. The following advantages are secured by special provisions m the above-mentioned Acts: — . ..- 1. Up to a certain amount, Assurance Policies bona fide effected by the Assured upon his own life, aud Endowment Policies, and Aunuities purchased for the benefit of Wife or Children, are exempted from the operation of Bankruptcy Acts, and from seizure under legal process. ; 2. Up to a certain amount, Married Women may effect Policies, and dispose of the money assured by will, as if single ; and such Policies are : free from the debts and control of their husbands. - '"' ' ' 3. ' •' - i!J --' On and after the first of January 1870 albills of exchange, drafts, orders, and promisl sory notes drawn within the colony (except such as are liable to a duty of one penny only), must be stamped with an impressed stamp before the said article be made, sighed; or issued, under a penalty not exceeding fifty pounds, and no such bill of exchange, &c., shall under any circumstances be stamped after the making therof. :. ... „:'.; No instrument (except bills of exchange and promissory notes drawn out. of the colony) shall be stamped after the first execution thereof, by any person; except the Commissioners. No transfer of shares m any company shall be registered m the books of such company until duly stamped. : . ; . . Bills purporting to be drawn m sets are liable to a proportionate duty on each of the set ; but persons who shall draw and issue any bill purporting to be one of a set without drawing tho whole ofthe set on duly .stamped paper, are liable to a penalty of one hundred pounds.
