TIM ART:. Yesterday, a match was plnyril between Iwo elevens of the abovo .clubs on the ground of tin; hitter at the Saltwater Creek. A goodly number of spectators wrre on the grounds including many ladies. A very gu.ul wicket had been "prepared by Mr Slee, who also provided nu excellent, luncheon at which the T. C. C. entertained tlmir up-country friends. Piny commenced soon. after 10 a.m. Timuru won tho toss and sent their opponents to the wiekels. ZSo stand was made, against the steady ami straight bowling of Messrs A Perry and Wright, by anyono except Mr Mathia<i, who went m lirst and smv six wickets fall. The fielding of tho Tiniaru men whs well up to tho mark, and the B. P. C's. first innings closed at a total of 21. As regards tho innings of Timaru, no stand of uny consequence was made, with tho exception of Mr Cuff, who hit freely and ran up his score to 23. Mr Mr Wright also played steadily and well for hi* 13 ; Timaru going out with a total of 87. Tho licldiug of the Burke'a Puss team was rat hor loose, and evidenced want of sulßcieut practice. Mr Rutherford bowlod well throughout, and was creditod with no loss than eight wiekots. Tho Burko'u Puss men then went m again, but werp no more successful m their second than m their first iuuiugs, making no stand whatever: their wickets fell most rapidly, the total of both innings only amounting to 87.
