" Herald" Office, Friday Evening. In brcadstuffa theie has been but little doing during the week, a few lots only of wheat and oats having changed hands. Prices remain as before — 4a for best samples wheat (with the exception iu small parcels to millers, where a slightly higher figure is given), 2s 6d for oats, aud 3s (id to 4a for barley. Freight is much .wanted to clear off tingrain now in town ; every store is full, and even the half-finished buildings are extemporised as grain stores. A very large quantity of k wheat is under tarpaulins on the beach, and altogether there is at least 30,000 bushels awaiting shipment. The Collingwood, barque, from Lyttelton, and the {Susan Jaue are daily expected, and both, on arrival, will load grain for the Auckland market. Mr F. W. Stubbs reports his sale of cattle and produce on Saturday last to be well attended. Fair prices were obtained, but the average was not so good as previous weeks. Milch cows, £6 to £7 5s ; springing heifers, £7 ; steers (nearly fat), £8 to £8 10s ; do, mixed ages, £2 12s 6d to £5 as. Mr Winter's sale of draught,{stock, drays, and gear, on last, drew a very numerous attendance, and the bidding throughout was very spirited. The animals offered were in line working condition, aud the prices obtained, although good, left them decided bargains to the purchaser. The following were the figures obtained : — Horses, £38 to £60, equal to an average of £50 12s ; timber waggon, £30; dray, £15; harness per set, £2 18s to £7 10s ; two ploughs, £8 and £8 10s ; and other articles of this description at proportionate rates.
