London, April 26. The Queen continues at Osborne m good health.
The Hon. J. M. Sutton definitely appointed Governor of Victoria. The Daily Noes comments strongly on the rejection
of the Tariff Bill, and censures the Council. There are grave apprehensions of an outbreak of cholera m England. The Government have issued circulars to the Mayors of the various city outports to take all the necessary precautions. The cattle disease has greatly decreased, the weekly cases being now under 300. Ironclad ship Northumberland has been successfully launched. Austria has ordered all the land and naval forces of Venetia to be placed on a war footing owing to the threatening attitude of Italy. It is reported that Napoleon has refused Italy aid should she attack Austria. An attempt has been made to assassinate the Emperor of Russia. The assassin fired a pistol at the Czar, but his arm was struck upwards by a peasant and the Emperor escaped unhurt. Criminal seized. The peasant has been made a noble.
