TIMARU JOCKEY CLUB.

TO THE EDITOR OF THE TIMAKU lIERAI.D.

Sir, — I should like to ask a question, publicly, which I think is of some interest to nearly all of us. How does the Jockey Club of Timaru stand with regard to funds ? I have have heard that there is, this year, a balance m hand; but have not been able to see the subscription list to find what amount was subscribed. If there was a balance could we not, for another y«ar, increase the stakes. I think if the subscription list was placed m some public place where it could be seen by everybody, strangers as well as residents, that it would serve more than one purpose. It would satisfy my curiosity and probably induce others to subscribe to the fund. I am, &c, A Subscriber.
