BOERS RETIRE FROM KULUMONS. (Press Association—Copyright.) CAPETOWN, Nov. 27. The Boers, with guns, at Gaspon, a little to the north of Belmont, attacked General. Methuen, who replied with shrapnel. < Tho Naval Brigade, Yorkshires and North Lancashires carried the heights after four hours' furious fighting. The Ninth Lancers intercepted the flying Boers, but the result is not known.
; The enemy, early in the fight, attacked the roar guard and baggage train, but the Grenadier Guards met this, and also protected the flanks, of the Naval Brigade, who displayed great gallantly and suffered heavilv. It is known that 51 Boers were killed and 48 wounded, while there are many prisoners. General Methuen has established heliographic communication with Kimberley.
Alfred P. Ethelston, commander of the warship Powerful; Major John H. Plumb, of the Royal Marines; and Lieutenant G. Senior, R.M.A., were amongst the Naval Brigaclo and killed at the battle of Belmont;
A body of 500 Boers, after six days' continuous fighting at Kulumons, in Bechuanaland, and losing 30 killed and 28 wounded, retired.
The British losses were small. The Boers are retreating to Warronton.
DURBAN, Nov. 27. The Boers have destroyed the Frere railway bridge.
