The Fire Mend.
—*. FIREATCOROMANDEL ! CoKOMANDEL, Jlltiff 6, A three roomed cottage situated on tie hillside above the Bunker's Hill shaft, and occupied by Mr Jas Mc Leiland, blacksmith at the Welcomn Find mine, was defrayed by fire. MrMc Leliand and wife were awakened by the smoke, and escaped only with whatever clothes they could seize at the moment, Nothing was saved. As to the origin, some clothes were left to dry in frobb of the fire place, in which, there some live embers when the couple retired. The loused the keeper of the Brigadu Station, but the fire was burning so rapidly, that it was useless to think of getting the engineout. The building was insured for £40 and the furniture and contents for £60 in the United Office, The is a heavy loser. He is not long married; the house and contents are quite new j and an inventory of Mrs Mc. LfHand's personal effects (brought with her from the Old Country ) places their value at £180.
