Thames Hying Club.
A meeting of the above Club was held for the purpose of appointing timetakers and drawing for positions of starting in the match from Te Kuiti to Thames on Friday "next.|' Eighteen birds have been nominated' to start. It will be a very difficult ; matter to pick the winner, as most of the birds are flying really well. Mr J. W. G. Walker's birds came from' Te Awamutu on Wednesday last in! lhr 36min, or at the velocity of 1283' yards per minute for tho whole journey of 70 miles, beating Messrs A. and G, \ Goodwin and H, Lowe's birdsfrom the \ same place by.-'3 mine in the distance; i their birds flying it at tho rate of 1244 Yards per minute. Messrs A. and G. Goodwin and H. Lowe, on the same ; day, sent their birds back to fly the j t'uli distauce of the race from TeKuiti (100 miles), Tbey were liberated at Te Kuiti on Friday morning and arrived home at. 9.23 am. the) same morning all 1 together,.two of; Messrs A. and G, Goodwin's birds' being only "squeakers," three months' old. Mr"W. Wilkes 1 representatives! also did a good fly from Cambridge on | Saturday morning, arriving home at ; an early hour, but owing to his box not having been returned we cannot give his time, ■ I
