Municipal Aesucution.—Mr r. F. Martin,- Secretary of this body, ivrote:—"This being the year in which t Conference of delegates appointed jy the affiliated Borough Councils is leld, I should feel obliged if you vould at the next meeting of your Council bring up the subject of the ippointment of the delegate to repre ant your Council and inform me thereiter of the name and address of the lelegate appointed. Pluase also aßk rour Council to 86nd me a list of whativer subjects the Council wishes nought under the notice of the Conference together with reasons, concisely itated, for any action the Council Issires to be taken by the Conference, the date for holding the Conference rill be appointed later by the Execute Committee of the, Association, [his date always depends upon the ;ime fixed for the session of Parliament ind the order of business in Parlianent.. Usually, however, the Confer snee has met early in July. My object n giving notice so early is that every iffiliated Council should have its dele--s»te appointed and its list of aubjeots :eady so that the Executive Committee nay have a free haud in fixing the late of the Conference and be enabled 0 exercise its discretion in the matter, laving regard to movements in the political world."—The-Mayor stated that the Council was not contributing io the Association, and the letter was ornrely "received." Turncocks Report.-The Borough rurucuuk (Mr Wm, Newman) re ported: -'• I find the supply coming into the Borough reservoir i» not suffisioiit, so I have to continue drawing from the County. I have regularly visited the reservoir to ascertain the amount of water and regulate the supply. On. Monday I found a bad leak near the reservoir. On digging, 1 found one of the joints had given away. : To make the necessary repairs I had two men engaged,"—Received and adopted, Gravel.—Or Radford, remarked that the levelling and tarring-and sanding of the eastern'side ol Pou«n! street, by the Karaka Creek, had been made a splendid job, but a few loads of gravel were greatly required ou the opposite Bide.—Or Whitehead concurred.—Matter to be attended to. Finanoe Committee. — The Committee reported:—'' ¥our Finance Committee have given the financial portion of the Borough their most earnest consideration, and carefully considered the separate items of revenue and expenditure of the general account, as set out in the balance sheet, and recommend as follows; That the expenditure on streets and footpaths and day labor must be reby £500 less than what it was last year; $iat the contribution to the Municipal Association he discontinued; that to assist the general account the rate for the ensuing yoar be Is 2d in, lieu of Is, and to make up for the increase the Hospital and Charitable Aid rate be reduced from 6d to 4d. The alteration will make no difference iu the amount payable .by ratepayers; the separate accounts, viz., Hospital and. Charitable Aid and water rate accounts are all in a healthy condition, and the Committee trust that the accumulation in the water account will, at the end of the financial ysar, enable the Council to make provision for taking the statutory thirty gallonf por day per head from the County water race at a higher \m\> Having

examined the following accounts and 'found the same correct that they bo passed 'for payment: Wages, Borough, £%) lis Id; wages, watei supply, £7 3s; 0. Short, cartage, • £3 9ds; T, Redwood, prevention oj' 1 (ires, £2; visiting Borough endowment, S. Smardon 16s, Smardon Bros., S £1 10s; total, £38 9s Id."—Eepori '' received, and its recommendation' '' adopted, without discussion. Foukman oi' Wowcs Repoht.—The Foreman of Works reported:—" The repairs to the legs of the Moanataiari aqueduct have been completed. All the legs that were rotted away at the ground level have been cut off and pieced with new timber, which should now stand for some time. I found in H several of the water-tables places of 3 about half a chain long completely rotten, which allowed the asphalt to crumble away. Somo of these places r have been repaired, which makes these blooks now -in; very fair order. The Noko Noko Creek has been cleaned out for its entire length.. I found the large culvert of this creek that crosses I Pollen street in a bad state, some of I the timber been quite rotten, I fowd it necessary to place temporary stays in the centre of the culvert to help to \ support the bearers. This culvert 1 requires repairing as soon as possible, 1 as in its present state it is not safe for ■ the amount of heavy trafficnow passing : over it daily. I .took advantage of 'he last few fine days to make up and tar and sand the footpath approaches to the Karaka bridge in' Pollen street. I am now metalling the roadway on both sides of the Karaka Creek, in Pollen street, When finished this will complete everything in connection with raising tho bridge and widening the creek. One man lias been employed round the drains, which is not enough at this season of the year on account of the trees shedding their leaves, which soon choke up the culverts in the vicinity of any trees" —Received and adopted.
