It is stated in Wellington that there is a likelihood of Mr J, (x, Ward rejoining the Cabinet.A good deal of curiosity has- been shown as to the extent of the public " investment in the colonial loan jnsb floated. 'Some of the southern papers go as far as to say that £8000 only was tendered - for by individuals and the large amounts were subscribed by the Banks of New Zealand and New' South Wales, also that an amount_;£ . £25,000 was takenup'by the Austra"-' lian Mutual Provident Society. The , moss astoundiug statement, however, is that an amount from, the, New Zealand Consols was utilised for the purpose of the loan.
