MINING NEWS.
VICTORIA.
Tho woik of development is steadily advances in all tho faces in operation, but without anything worthy of special mention, Tho drivo on tho No. 3 lovol upon the courso of tho teof is entering a rooss excellent class of country for projjress and tho existence of gold, but up to tho present tho precious metal has not been seen there. I lowover, a change for the belter may take place at any moment. It moy again bo mentioned that very rich oro was met with at this level on tho lodes trending parallel to this one, and down to tho Nos. 1 and 5 levels the oro proved dividend paying. Takin» that as acii'erion to look back upon, one naturally drops to tho idea that a similar class of ore may bo met with on this lode. Development will prove this. A very good class of payablo oro is being ob« toined Irom the intermediate drive west* ward of the No. 2 winzo, nnd tho same remurK applies to tho stopes eastward of tho crosscut, and over tho No. 1 level, Tho drive eastward of the crosscut at the No. 2 level is steadily advancing, but although the lode looks promising no gold has been soon. Crushing is now proceeding at Bull°s battery on tho genera) output of the mino.
