A STRANGE SUICIDE.

Napier, October 17,
Great surprise was caused in town this morning on receipt of the news tliafc Edmund Black, a young man,' well known and well connected, had committed suicide in a stable adjoining his home at Greenuieadows, Alongside him was found a bottle of poison. Deceased, who was Secretary, to the Chamber of Commerce, returned home from town last night, apparently in the best of spirits, and on being called this morning, failed to put in an appearance. lie was subsequently found in the stable by his brother-in-law.- The deceased, was. very widely known, amongst the other oflices he held being the Secretaryship of the Hawke s Bay Caledonian Society. Up to the present there is nothing to show the cause of the suicide, but an inquest will be held this evening. Deceased leaves a wife and several children.
