THE EXECUTION OF MRS DEAN.

Inwhcahgill, August 13. >Jn the execution of Mrs Dean the drop allowed was 7 feet 9 inclie?, and the scaffold used was one built for lira execution of Captain Jarvey, of Dunedin, who poisoned his wife about a quarter of a century ago. The only persons present, beside the eaol officer, were the sheriff, doctor, magistrate, and press reporters. The body has been claimed' by her husband, and will be buried in Winton Cemotery.
It is understood Minnie Dean ieft a vritten statement which will be forwarded ,o the GoYernment placing a different aspect on'the case from that inferred from the trial.
During the execution a boy. foil from the roof of a building to the ground, a distance of fifty feet, fraoturing his Bkull,"
