Last year Judge Windeyer granted Thomas Richard Butler a decree nisi for divorce from his wife on the grounds of her adultery with George Williams, •whose real name was since ascertained to be Charles Davis. Subsequent revelations led the Grown" to pVefer against Butler, Davis, and a woman Peake a .charge of conspiracy to falsely accuse Mrs Butler, Evidence was submitted to prove that Davis and Peake had been paid by Butler to lead his wife astray in order that the latter might obtain a divorce, All three accused were found guilty, the jary. adding a rider that Mrs Butler had not committed the offence for which the divorc3 was granted. Butler and Davis were seatenced to seven and Peake to four years. Eofe, who acted as solicitor for Butler in the divorce proceedings, was also arrested on a charge of conspiracy,
