New York, April 13. It is reported that the wholo town of Colon, in Panama, is ou fire.

[Colon it ono of fcho principal towns in the State of Panama, which forms a portion of tlio '"olombia Ropublic, of Central Amcrica. The Republic was formed in 1861, by. tlio Union of the Panama and eight other States. Tlio population of Panama is about a quarter of a million inhabitants, its avoa being 31,571 miles Colon i 3 one of the proposed termini of the Panama Canal. Its situation is low, and not; very healthy. The town has a largo population, and is a soaporfc of considerable importance, being situated on the shores of tho Mosquito Gulf on the Atlantic coast of America ] ■
