Auckland, Ootober 2. ■ An open air meeting of citizens, under tho auspicea of the Liberal Association, was held to-night. A telegram was received bjr the chair* !! ma'ii from'the s Premier, wishing the mooting every success. Mr W. J. Napier moved ;tho first resolution: "That this mass meeting of citizens protests against the action or the Legislative Council in rejecting tho labour measures passed by the House of Representatives, and calls upon the Government to take such steps as will compol tho. second Chamber to respect tho will of'the people." This was seconded by Mr Worth; 'President of tho Trades and and supported by Mr J. Began j President of tho Typographical Society, Messrs Groville, Noylor, and Nordon, and the resolution was carried, with ono dissentient. :

Mr J. M. Dargaville moved the second resolution:" That this meeting of citizens desires td express its unabated confidence ; ■•' -in the present .Government."
