MINING NEWS
■; Oblando -Tho manager(Mr Radford) reports as follows; "Dunne the past week 13 feet of acrossouthas been driven into the foofcwall of the reef at the low level, to ascertain if there was any other roef thore before starting the. rise", but I find nothing which wonld lead me to believe but that the winze is sank on the same reef as the low level is driven" on; •so I started the rise to meet the winze. "The rise is now up 10 feet. We are taking about 4 feet of the reef with us, but we do not see any hangingwall of the reef: but I intend to cut through it ns wbriso. The air is very light, and this makes it rather difficult for the men to work, but the distance is not very far, only about 40 feet, so we shall not belong in accomplishing the work." ' ~
Camuuh.—The manager (Mr Baker) reports »s follows; "There has been a marked imiHwoment in the appearance and qualify of tho quartz coming from No. 1 leader at No, 2 level. The leader is at present divided iuto three veins, averaging in all about 7 inches of crushing dirt, from which 5 or 6 pounds of picked stone woro solecfcd during the week. The country is still tight, but of the best description for gold, being traversed with numerous mineral veins. In the winzo on the crossreef, Cambria sec- 1 tion, a break ,was met. with during; the week, which has given us a little 1 extra work, having displaced' tho reef abont 5 feet into tho haugingwall , Tho reef still looks woll, but is not as lareo as it was, and is underlying much flatter, and in consequonco will not junction with tho main reef as soon as I' expected. The winzo is now down about 22 feet, The usual work of stoping on the mainreef and leadors is still proceeding, and the quality of ouarte, from some of them has been' a little better during tho week, a fow pounds of picked stone having been obtained from thorn. ,A little gold continues to bo scon in the quartz coming from No. 4 lfador and also from tho quartz from: No, 6 loader below No. 31 level.. The company's crushing will bej finished during tho week." '
