Dunedin, June 20. At the Polico Court yesterday a sailor was brought up ou tlireo chares of drunkenness, tho circumstances attonding tho caso boing of a somowlir.t amusing clnractor. Tho man was arrested on Friday morning, and admitted to bail to appear at tho «ourt on Saturday morni»£, Before tho court sat, howover f ho wasagainarrostedfordninkcnnoss,andns he was quite intoxicated ho was conveyed It tho look-up, Tho effects of the drink wore off towards tho afternoon, and he was readmitted to bail to appoar at the Police Court on Monday morning. About midnight, howovor, a constable onco moro camo across tho übiquitous " Jack Tar," who for tho third tirao was very much under the influence of drink. Ho was lying in Rattray street by tho footway, apparently undor tho delusion that ho was in his bunk. Although it was a bitterly cold night, and the snow was lying thick on tho ground, ho bad divested himself of tho greator portion of his olothing, utilising his coat as a pillow for his head. Ho was rudely awakened from his dreams by tho officer in blue, and onco moro placed under lock and key at tho polico station.
