THE NEW ORLEANS DISTURBANCE.
Rome, April 4. Signor Rudini has informed the Secretary of State for the United States that the diplomatic incident will only be i closed when the, prosecution of the lynchers at New Orleans has begun. Washington, April 4. President Harrison considers that the lynching at New Orleans is an offence against both the Federal and the State Governments, inasmuoh as it is in defiance to treaties under which foreigners are promoted.
It is reported that the Government hrs formally demanded that the State of Louisana should at once arrest those connected with the lynching of the Scilians, and have them tried by Federal 'court.
A feeling is prevailing in New Orleans that the Slate Government must resist any infringement of Sovereign rights.
The leaders of the lynching party express their willingness to plead guilty to the charge, provided they receive only a nominal sentence.
The United States Minister at Rome has communicated with the Italian Government, and on the behalf of his Government promised that reparation will be made for theilynching of the Sicilians, but that time is required to give effect to the determination of the Government. Signor Rudini, the Italian premier is reported to be satisfied with the decision,
A CONFLICT FEARED. New York, April 4. The anarchists who are controlling the strike in Pennsylvania persist in maintaining an attitude of intimidation, and it is feared that a conflict will take place with tho troops who have been called out to preserve order.
