Tne prrzs won at the recent Friendly Societies Sports will be distributed at Mr F. Shawß, Brown street, this evening. An important notification from the Crown Lands Office, Auokland, appears iu this morning's Ada ebtiseu. It refers to a sale to be held on 28th inst-namely, the sale of the right to cut and removo the kauri timber standing on the Museum endowment, at Pakauae, Coromandel, The teims and condii tions are set forth in the advertisement which appears in another oolnmn on the signature of Mr Humphries, the Commit eioner of Crown Lands; and the attention of all concerned is particularly directed thereto.

Holliss, County Oleik, in his capacity as Returning Officer for thelicensing districts of Hastings, Waiotahi, Kauaeranga, and Parawai, sets forth in tlra morning's paper the times and plaoes for the nomination and election of persons duly qualified for the office of members of the Licensing Committees for tho districts aforesaid. He also intimates that, concurrently with the' election of the Lioeneing Committee?, a poll will be taken to determine whether or not the number of jiublioana and accommodation licenses may be increased within the districts mentioned.
