The Wairarapa Stan asks if the natural enemy of the rabbit is becoming played out. The query is prompted by a statement (commumcatod) to the effect that a stand-up fight was recently witnessed between a fulgrown robust ferret and a rabbit, in which the ferret jrot the worst of the encounter, causing it co boat an ignominious retreat. The ferret must have been in the last stage of distemper or some other fatal malady, to be worstod by a Wairarapa rabbit,
