ANOTHER DESTRUCTIVE IN AUCKLAND.

Shortly after midnight afire broke out in a two storey wooden shop in Victoriastreet, occupied by Dare draper, and extended; eastward' along a two storey block, occupied by Staney (jeweller) and Samers'(tobacconist), and westward along the,,two storey blocks occupied '. by J. Brown (fishmonger), Mettam : (tinsmith and plumber), Mrs Crawley (grocer), and Matthew Oarr (bootmaker), The fire brigade got the fire under control in 20 minutes, the total destruction being confined to Dare's premises; Brown's on the west,'were gutted, and those of Slaneyj and ,Somer ; s' wero partially destroyed. Other tenements were damaged, through i the lire running along the roof, and also by water.'.' It is estimated that the daraago doneis £4000. The following are the in-surances-.—Dare's premises, owned by Mrs Wallace, £500, Northern; stock, £250. Phoenix; £250, Equitable; £350, Colonial ; Ball's two shops, occupied by Brown and Mettam, seriously • damaged, £509 in the Royal. ' In adjacent bnildings, Carr, bootmaker, loss £150, insured 1 in the Norwich Union; Mettam, plumber, loss £75, insured in, the Norwich Union; Somers, tpbaccbniatj '£130 loss, insured in the Norwich Union, part reinsured; Glaney, jeweller, £150 in the National, stock, tools and premises; Glaney and Somers, owned by R. Bartley, seriously damaged, £350 in the Northern. ' ;
