DUNEDIN, Saturday THE weather was again fine for the third days races, and the attendance numbered quite 5000. The following were the results:— *' ■. • 7 •
Handicap : Steeplechase of 130sovs. about 3 miles:—Mr G. Smith's br g Ravensford (Sheehan), 1; Mr J, Kerr'e b g Liowood (Stewart), 2; Messrs Hobb's b g Moody (Hobbs), 3. Mr Cotton's. Donald also ran, but he fell, and though mounted again' by Cotton was afterwards out it. The jumping was capital. Ravenswood won comfortably. Dividend, £2 Iβ.
Hopeful Stakes Handicap, of 120 soys, six furlongs; for two and three-year olds: —Mr Stead's b c Russell (Derritt), 1; Mr Clifford's b c Tiger Tim (White), 2.. Mr Seymourss Cheap Jack, and Hon. McLean's Lady Certrude, also ran. Mr Stead's horse won with great ease. Time, lmin 19secs. Dividend, £110s 6d. Forbury Handicap, of 300sovs, i£ mile: —Major George's ch c Nelson (White), 1; Mr Pilbrow's br h Souweeter (Derritt), 2| Mr E. Cutts' br li July (Bjuwrn)V3l Capt. Webster, Lady Evelyn, Leon, and Minerva also ran. Souwester and'Capt. Webster were about equal favourites. Nelson won, easily by a length-and-a-half; Sou'weeter was unable to catch him at the finish. Time, 2mins 44secs. Dividend £6 12s 6d.
Marshall Memorial Stakes, of 15sovs, If mile, weight for age: Hon. Mr Robinson's br h Vanguard (Derritt), 1; Mr Bates's ch m Minerva (Barlow), 2. Only the two ran. Minerva made a daeh at the finish, but Vanguard won with ease. Time, 2mins 3secs. Dividend, £1 Is,
Flying Stakes Handicap, of lOOsovs, one , mile: Mr G, Stead's b f Marion (White), 1; Mr Stephenson's ch h Taiaroa (Kean), 2; Major George's ch 6 Nelson (Brown), 3. Rubina and Mokia also ran. There was an excellent race' between Marion and Taiaroa,. but the filly settled him a hundred yards from home. Nelson had a 71b penalty included in his Bst 91b for winning the Forbury Handicap. Time, lmin. 45secs. Dividend £4 10s. .
The Consolation Race was won by Taiaroa. • '
