DEFERRED PAYMENT LANDS.

The Mowing is the price paid for land on the deferred payment system in the different provincial districts for the yonr 1879: —Taranaki, £2 15s per acre; Weiline'ton, £3 18s per acre; Marlborough, £210s per acre; Canterbury, £'6 10s per acre ; Portland, £115s per acre; Otago, £3 15s per acre. The land sold in Auckland during the same period on the deferred payment system has been nil. There is surely something wrong when land can be obtained on this system in any other part of the colony except Auckland by those willing to settle on land. It will be seen that the highest price has been p*id in Canterbury, and the lowest in Westland, where the land is all heavily timbered, and is, accompanied with the expense ol bringing land into cultivation in Canterbury, dear at any price, Wo trust before another year that a large amount of the waste lands of this district will be sottled upon, and that those willing will not bo forced to leave ythe district to make homes for themselves elsewhere. •
