A bio chap wii'h half a bushel of whiskers sauntered up lo the slampclerk's window in tho prst-ofiicn yesterday with o letter in his hand, and itia eye at once caught the sign: ' Canada m»ney not taken for stamps,' Heading it over twice to he sure that lie was right, ho -aid to tho cUrk: ' Tan I ;buy some stumps with Canada money?' t T'Jso clorlt pointed to the sign. l! •' Young man, won't (Canada money buy stamps here?' continued the man. ' What does that sign say ?' replied the clerk. I demand to know,' persisted tho man, raising his voice a good deal ' I demand to Iftiow if Canada money won't buy postage stamps at this window?' ' ISTo, sir, it won't.' ' Do yon tell rae that if I hand you a Canadian dollar bill you won't give mo stamps for it ?' ' 1 do, sir.' ' Well, I wouldn't if I wero you," quietly observed the stranger as he laid down three Yankee cents for a letter stamp and humbly received and licked it on.
