Aibubnia. — Yesterday the manager commenced to sink a winze on the Sons of Freedom lode, Whau level, 100 feet went of the No. 3 winze, so as to connect with the 70-feet level, and facilitate stojing operations, In the 70-feet level He is breaking down the lode which was left standing whilst the drive was extended'io|/ the last 35 feet. The quartz is very hard and difficult to break out, but it is goo'd payable dirt. From the intermediate level first-class dirt is coming to hand. It still continues 2 feet, in width, and, as well as leading slope, shows good dabs of gold. A start has been made to stope out from intermediate to Whau levels, where I am breaking down good crushing dirt. Whau level: I have been cutting a chamber preparatory to sinking a winze 100 feet west of IN o. 3 winze, Sons of Freedom leader. inking will commence to-morrow, sth inst. Stopes above this drive, no ohange to report. Dixon's: Stopes here look well; lOOlbs of good picked stone have been secured from these and other stopes below Whau level. Batteries: There has been crushed during the month at the Herald and Moanataiari batteries 400 tons quartz and 150 pounds of pioked stone for the return of 454{ozs melted gold.-Samuel Gbibbie, February 4th." OuBE.-There h not much ohange to report on No. 6 lode, but the manager thinks it will improve in- quality as it is driven upon. The tributers Davis and party commenced crushing at Bull's battery yesterday. About 26 tons of quartz will be treated, from which a good payable return is expected. OldGokden CAtF.-The gas, was all out of the Caledonian No. 3 level yesterday morning, so that this company's men were enabled to proceed to work for the first time during the week. The men are now employed in stripping the lode, and will not break down any for the next day or two.

Golden Obows.—Messrs E. Cameron and T. Dunlop have taken the whole of this mine on tribute for a term of two years, and have started to work with six wages men in prospecting the hangingwall leaders of !Vo. 1 lode in one of the old surface drives.

Kttbahui HiLi.-The retorted gold obtained by this company on Monday was, on being molted, reduced to a bar weighing 4590zs 6dwts.

Queen of Beauty. — The tributers Landers and party obtained 41ozs 12dwts melted gold from 26$ tons of general dirt crashed at the company's battery. Little Maggie (Waiotahi). — The proprietors of this claim (McKirdy and party) crushed 15 tons of general dirt at the Queen of Beauty battery for the payable return of 19ozs melted gold,
