OHINEMURI GOLDFIELD.

Ohinehubi, December 2nd. The Owbaroa battery has started on stone from the Smile of Fortune mine, from the Waterfall and No. 2 lodes. A payable return is expected from both lots. The No. 4 has a few tons on hand. In the Radical the tributers are getting out some atone. None of the other mines in the locality are at work.

WATER SUPPLY COMMITTEE. The usual monthly meeting of the Water Supply Committee was held last evening. There were nrcsent—Messrs Speight, Brassey, and Price. The minules of tho previous meeting were read and confirmed.

The OveßDiufi\—A letter was read from tho manager of tho Bank of New Zealand, Gralmmslown, as follows: " Please to call on the sureties to payoff the temporary overdraft guaranteed by them hereon your account." It was resolved to send a copy of the letter to tho sureties of the County and Borough Councils, and tho Parnwai Highway Board.

A Complaint.— tfr E. C. Morgan, Pollen-street, wrote that he had seen in tho newspaper report of tho last meeting that tho turncock had denied using insolence whon ho went to collect the water rale. The rate had been paid, and he enclosed the receipt.—The letter was received.

Application for Water.- A letter was read from a number of the residents of Broad-street, asking that a water-pipe might be laid past their residences.—lt was resolved to accede to the request, on condition that the petitioners pay a year's rate in advance.—A similar application was received from residents near the New Caledonian Hotel and Shortland sawmill.—lt was resolved to treat tho application in the same way as the former one.
