NEW CANDLELIGHT GOLD MINING COMPANY.

An adjourned meeting of shareholders in the New Candlelight speculation was held at the Governor Bowen Hotel 1 last night, and was well attended. Mr Thomas Scanlan occupied the chair, and Mr D. G. MacDonnell acted as. secretary,.. It was resolved to form the same into a company under the Mining Districts Act, 1872, and that the name of the company be "The New Candlelight Gold Mining Company (Limited)." It consists of ten mens' ground, with a capital of £7,600, in £1 shares, nil paid up. Eules were. then read and adopted. The 'qualification of directors 'is to be holding, five hundred shares.. The following gentlemen were appointed as directors:-Messrs J. Darrow, T. H. Crawford, Geo. Symington, W.Mahoney, and Thos. Scanlan. Mr D. G> Mao Don* nell was appointed legal manager, The whole of the shares have been taken up, and from the spirit pervading the mooting no time will be lost in re-opening this well-known ground. As soon as the deed of incorporation can be secured operations will be started. The ground comprises the best part of the old Candlelight and part of the Mullum in Parvo, situate abovePanga Flat. It wasoriginally worked byNolanand party with promiseof success, so far as the gold returns were concerned, but the cost of transit, even of 2oza to the ton stone, brought' the' party to, : grief. Siaco tbis.it has, 'been shepherded by several parties; but it haa beon reserved for Mr Sc&rilan'to mark out the ground and take advantage of the altered state of affairs to bring this gold-producing claim prominently to the front. This has l)een the work,of, much .labour in testing,.the reefs 'arid" laying Wtheir courses, so that every advantage, may betakonof the labour previously expended in putting in drives and sinking winzes.., The chief reason of this abandoned piece of ground being so readily taken up is that it is. 'known to contain gold, and that'the road how forming, ,from ; the Waip^ahi, will enable the new company 'either to take their quartz tjo thp head;of the Moanataiari tramway, ,or_ bring it down direct to any of the batteries on the flat, at a cost, thai heretofore was nolj to be thought of.
