He recommended that the body should be buried that day impossible',-;and that the family be not allowed to go outside their own allotment, and thafc.'proper precautions be taken to prevent the spread of the disease by dis-. ihfeotanta and other means, and by boiling .r-.thp-'bed. • clothes and wearing apparel;;-.•: He: had also visited, the Waiotahi school, and, found, ihat the school was close to the 'house in which the death had occurred.; in fact, that the playground went all round it, and was not enclosed, _.;He--alsb" found; that the j drainagefrbm the school closet was in a very defective.and bad state, and that the same might-be said of many of the surrounding; places;: He recommended that the school should bo closed for at least a 'fortnight, that the drainage be. at once 'sqen to, and the 'playground, if ; possible, paled.in.. Also that in the meantime the school be thoroughly washed and ohloride of Hme.used, as it was.possible that some of the school children might have been in contact with members of Mr.. Copland's family."-' He further recommended that notice should be served on the parents of' the infected family that the family should be-kept isolated in their own allotment for the present.

'In accordance with the recommendation of the Medical Officer, immediate notice was sent to Mr Copland that he' was required, under the provisions of the Public .Healths Act, and in accordance with the report of the Medical Officer, to. isolate his family in his own allotment for a period of fourteen days.. A resolution was.also carried appointing Mr James MoNiece Inspector of Nuisances under the Board. He was instructed to take immediate necessary measures for having closets,' drains, &c, attended to, and he was authorised to expend £1 in the purchase of chloride of lime for the use of those who were, not in a position to purchase it themselves. : The Secretary was 1 instructed to acquaint the Waiotahi School Committee with the facts of Dr : Lethbridge's report, and the' meeting then terminated. : "
