OHINEMURI.
(fboji oub own cqbbespondent.) August 25. , The weather for tho last week has been very bad, Heavy squalls of wind and rain, hailstorms, thunder and lightning, havo been mixed up with intermittent gleams of sunshine, which only served to make things look moro miserable still. Captain Eraser, Sub-Inspector Sullen, and Mr Sheath are here. Tho latter has como to report as to probable cost of the proposed extension of the telegraph to Mackaytown. Captain Eraser, having got through the Court business, will devote'tho rest of the weok to superintending the • survoys of agricultural sections at Waitekauri and other places. An important point was raised in connection with tho Purutai case. It is certainly rather absurd to allow natives .to take out miners' rights and take up claims, and then dobar them from getting tho necessary powder for working the ground.
