TARANAKI EDUCATION BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. At the afternoon sitting of the Taranaki Education Board on Wednesday i the following resignations were acceptjed: Miss D. Hurst, probationer, IvaI ponga.(January 31); Mr. J. Main, solo teacher, Matemateaonga; iliss J. S. Dunn, assistant, Stratford D.H.S. ( (January 31); Miss H. Andrews, hoard’s ! office (December 31). Leave of absence was granted as follows; Miss L. Handscoinbo, assistant, Norfolk (one week); Miss Guppy, assistant, Stanley (to visit Hawera Infant School, one day); Miss M. M'Kenzie, assistant, Hawera T.H.S. (one month). Appointments to school committees were confirmed as follows: Lopperton, Messrs. E. W. Wheatley (chairman), H. H. Grayling and S. A. Campbell (in place of Messrs. Huckstep, Harvey and Stewart, resigned) ; Mokoia, Mr. A. Agostineli (in place of Mr. A. T. Main,, resigned); To Whakarae, Mr. S. H. Barnett (in place of Mr. S. Bishara. resigned); Oeo, Messrs. Oldham and Simpson (in place of Messrs. Jones and Harrop, resigned). The action of the following committees in closing schools on account of epidemics was confirmed; Kaponga, Oaonuk Te Kiri, Aukapae, Pitzroy, Ballot u, Pukengalm. The senior inspector was asked to report on the state of accommodation at the Mokau, Mokoia and Ackland schools. The Stratford School Committee ndvisodthat it had let a contract for the erection of the girls’ shelter shed, the price being £597. It was decided to forward to the department a complaint from 801 l Block concerning the extraction of a child’s teeth. . The hoard agreed to make application to the department for the subsidy required to build a shelter-shed at Toko, ! provided the committee forwarded a I cheque for half the proposed cost. It I also agreed to make a grant to the I Mangofei Committee to cover the cost of material for subdividing fences, provided the committee found the labour. I The matter of a residence at Ohura was referred to the architect to report on.
