PRIZES FOR STORIES.

HERALD CHRISTMAS NUMBER. The Christmas number of the Taranaki Herald will be published on December 11. With the idea of making it bright and attractive, and of encouraging budding literary talent, wo are inviting the co-operation of story-tellers, and offer the following prizes:— Original Story .of approximately 1500 words. First prize £2 2s, second prize £1 Is. Stories that do not , win a prize may be used, in which case they will be paid for at the rate of 16s each. Story not exceeding 760 words. Open to boys and girls attending primary and secondary schools. First prize £1 Is, second prize 10s 6d. CONDITIONS. The Editor of The Taranaki Herald shall be the sole judge of these competitions, and his decision on all matters incidental to the competitions shad ie final and conclusive.

Copyright remains witli the competitors, it being understood that we are paying for the use of the matter for our 1920 Christmas issue only, but it must not bo offered elsewhere till after December. All stories must he sent in addressed to the Editor of The Taranaki Herald by November 30, 1920. If competitors de'siro'thc return of their copy stamps must bo enclosed to cover postage. Competitors should write their names and addresses clearly on the back‘of the copy.
