At Urcnui on the Bth inst., cattle came forward in good numbers. Prices for all classes eased a shade, although the bulk of tho yarding changed hands.. At Kohuratahi on the 10th inst., in conjunction with the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. we re port a very heavy yarding o't' cattle and lair ino of sheep. Inquiry was keen throughout for both classes, outside buyers operating strongly for grown cattle whilst young cattle mostly remained in the district. Practically the whole yarding was cleared at the hammer. Hoggets 28s 9d, 4 and 6-tooth wethers 35s 6d, store cows £5 12s 6d, £6 10s, yearling to 15-mouth heifers £4 2s 6d, £6 4s. 2-year-old empty heifers £6 19s, £7 Is, empty heifers £7 10s, yearling steers £3 6s, £3 17s 6d, £5 2s 6d, 2-year-old clUto £6 10s, £7 10s, 3-year-old steers £8 7s 6d, £io, £lO Gs, 4-year-old bullocks £lO 15s, £l3 i7s 6d, springing heifers backward sorts £8 10s, choice quality ditto £l7 £2O, £22, dairy cows £l4 10s. On the same day at Oaonui we conducted a clearing sale on behalf of the estate of the late J. Tl Cook. ' The cows which were mostly first calve and in milk made good prices, soiling up to £27. A number of good heavy horses were also eagerly sought after‘ as also all implements and sundries.
