Statbam, M.P. and Mrs. Statham, who spent the week-end in* New Plymouth, returned south by Monday’s mail train. . • _ Captain L. M. Isitt and Captain T. M. Wilkes, flying officers, who attended the funeral of the late Captain Russell, left by this morning’s mail train on their return to Christchurch. The Board of Governors of the New Plymouth High ■' Schools on Monday night accepted the resignation of Messrs 1 . H. V. Searle, H. E. Glover, and N. D.-Day from their positions on the staff of the boys’ school, The late Captain Russell’s father received the following .telegram from Sir Heaton Rhodes, Minister of Defence■ “Deeply grieved to hear of the sad fatality at New Plymouth, and respectfully tender sincere sympathy in yourbereavement. As Minister of the Air Board I mourn the untimely death of so gallant and distinguished an airman as the late Captain Russell, whose nama will long be , remembered ns one of the pioneers of aviation'in this Dominion. —R‘.
