WHEAT PEST FROM INDIA.
NOT FOUND IN AUSTRALIA. By, Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. SYDNEY, Nov. 15. V, With reference to the evidence before the Select Committee on Agrieul, ture that a new pest, khapra, had been introduced ,from India and was spreading in Australia, the Minister of Agriculture has secured a report from departmental experts which disproves the statement that khapra exists in Australia. The report adds that no entomologists ever found the khapra beetle in Now South Wales wheat, and the} - are equally' certain it hits not been found anywhere else in Australasia. It will probably be established that khapra has not been recorded as a wheat pest anywhere but in India. —Ans.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
