The first Greek election returns suggest a debacle ,of the Tinoists, eightylivo per cent, of the vots being cast for tlio Government. Mexico City report serious disorders attended by a general strike throughout the province of Yucatan, Railwayman, dockers, and electricians struck in sympathy with stevedores. Ton strikebreakers were killed. Six children were trampled to death and twenty children seriously injured in a Now York cinema theatre, when a defective stovo issued smoke, causing a panic among the youngsters who largely filled the upper galleries. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, interviewed in Sydney, said ho did not think he would write auy more novels, unless ho could see a novel which would help the people to understand spiritualism. He did not feel inclined to discuss the present day tendencies of literature. During the past few years ho had been reading up spiritualism so closely that he bad no tiroo to watch any otlior developments. Sir Arthur on Monday night delivered his opening lecture at tho Town Hall, which was packed.
