NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIP,

The New Zealand Golf Championship meeting opens at Hamilton to-day and promises' to be the most interesting gathering held probably in Australasia. The course is in excellent order, and the,recent rain has improved the greens and fairways. For his first round on the course Kirkwood registered a 72, whilst this score has been equalled by lies, M‘Ewan (professionals), and Lusk, tho Auckland amateur. Tho following is the draw for the first round for the professionals championship, commencing on Wednesday:— Douglas plays Martin, Moss plays Kirkwood, Hood plays Clements, Brooks plays M'E'.van, Blair plays East, Lock plays M'Cbmick, lies and Butters byes. *
