NE TEMERE DECREE.

DISCUSSION IN AUSTRALIA. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. (Received Sept. 11, 9.20 a.in.) SYDNEY, Sept. 11. With reference to allegations that attempts made in. Australia to inquire into tlio operation of the no temere decree had been frustrated, the Reverend Professor M‘ln tyre, secretary of the committee of Protestant Churches which dealt with the subject, explains that the only matter the committee concerned themselves with was that the Now South Wales State authorities should not, as they had been doing in some instances, re-registor mixed marriages where the ceremony was again performed at the instigation of Catholic priests. Their eltorts resulted in the Attorney-General issuing a a regulation against such registration unless there ivas a reasonable doubt as to tho validity of tho first ceremony. [The evidence laid before the New Zealand Parliament in connection with the same decree is printed, on page 6 of this issue.]
